Lee Seok-hoon, Kim Sung-kyu, Park Eun-tae and others to star in August-opening musical 'Kinky Boots'
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Byung-hee] Lee Seok-hoon, Kim Sung-kyu, Park Eun-tae, Choi Jae-rim, Kang Hong-seok, and Kim Ji-woo will appear in the musical "Kinky Boots," returning for its fourth season. Kinky Boots is scheduled to open on August 21 at Blue Square Interpark Hall in Yongsan-gu, Seoul.
"Kinky Boots" was first successfully licensed and performed worldwide by CJ ENM in Korea in 2014. Following a revival in 2016 and a third season in 2018, it attracted a cumulative audience of 100,000 in just 73 performances, achieving an average seat occupancy rate of 92%. With only three seasons, it surpassed 300,000 cumulative viewers domestically, firmly establishing itself as a hit repertoire. Directed by Jerry Mitchell and written/composed by Cyndi Lauper, "Kinky Boots" has been beloved worldwide, maintaining an undefeated box office record on Broadway and beyond.
Lee Seok-hoon and Kim Sung-kyu (Infinite) will play the role of "Charlie," who challenges himself to make 80CM "Kinky Boots" to revive a shoe factory. Lee Seok-hoon debuted on the musical stage with "Kinky Boots" and has played leading roles in productions such as "Gwanghwamun Sonata" and "The Man Who Laughs." Kim Sung-kyu has stood out in works like "Gwanghwamun Sonata" and "Amadeus."
The role of "Lola," a beautiful and cheerful man who boldly confronts prejudice and oppression, will be played by Park Eun-tae, Choi Jae-rim, and Kang Hong-seok. The passionate factory worker "Lauren," who is quirky, lovely, and wise, will be portrayed by Kim Ji-woo and Kim Hwan-hee. The fiery and rough-tempered shoe factory worker "Don," who occasionally causes conflicts, will be played by Ko Chang-seok and Shim Jae-hyun.
