[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Midam] On the 17th, Independent lawmaker Lee Yong-ho praised the appearance of Han Jeong-ae, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea who was elected as the chairperson of the National Assembly's Health and Welfare Committee, but was cautioned to "be careful about mentioning appearance."
On the same day, Lee attended the first plenary meeting of the Health and Welfare Committee held at the National Assembly in the morning and opened his remarks by saying, "I regret that despite the novel coronavirus infection situation, the ruling and opposition parties could not come together, and some seats remain vacant as we start."
He continued, "I am the only non-Democratic independent lawmaker from Honam, and although I became independent, I feel like a political orphan in the current situation," adding, "There are many good fellow lawmakers, and I will cooperate and strive to make the Welfare Committee productive."
Regarding Chairperson Han, he said, "I have always respected her a lot, and as time goes by, she gains more experience and becomes more beautiful, so I will serve her well."
After all lawmakers, including Lee, finished their greetings, Chairperson Han said, "It seems that everyone has a unique determination, which is encouraging," and added, "Perhaps this is the kind of image the public hopes to see."
