"Challenge Social Issues" ... 1st 'Dojeon.Korea' Idea Contest
9 Tasks Including Marine Debris and Voice Phishing ... Maximum Reward 50 Million Won
[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] The government will launch the 1st 'Challenge.Korea' contest starting from the 15th to solve social problems by utilizing the creativity and collective intelligence of the public.
This year, the contest will be held by soliciting solutions for nine tasks, including 'Prevention of Abandonment of Companion Animals' and 'Improvement of Digital Exclusion among the Elderly.'
Anyone, including citizens, companies, and organizations, can submit proposals, and multiple ideas can be submitted repeatedly.
To participate in the idea contest, applicants can download the application form and idea plan from the Challenge.Korea bulletin board within Gwanghwamun 1st Street and submit them by September 15.
The contest tasks for this year were finalized after comprehensively considering the necessity and feasibility of solutions based on an online preference survey among 38 candidate tasks.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety explained that the tasks include not only those with recently increased urgency and necessity for problem-solving but also tasks that approach long-standing social issues from different perspectives than traditional methods, expecting that creative solutions from diverse viewpoints will be derived.
Among these contest tasks, there are both those requiring advanced technology and those easily accessible to the general public. Considering the difficulty of problem-solving, required technical expertise, and completeness, the tasks were graded (A~C) and prize money was differentiated accordingly.
Ideas proposed by the public will be reviewed by the Challenge.Korea Steering Committee, with the top idea receiving a prize of up to 50 million KRW and commendations (Minister of the Interior and Safety Award) planned.
Yoon Jong-in, Vice Minister of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, said, "To solve complex social problems, perspectives from various fields and the power of collective intelligence are more important than anything else," and urged, "Please show great interest and participate in the idea contest so that the public's innovative ideas can shine."
