Santa Fe, Tucson, Carnival, Sportage... New Cars to Flood the Market in the Second Half of the Year
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] Amid sluggish overseas automobile markets due to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), automakers are focusing on the domestic market with new car launches in the second half of the year. With many popular models scheduled for release, the range of new car options is expected to expand significantly.
According to the automotive industry on the 14th, the most anticipated new vehicle launching in the second half of this year is Genesis's GV70. The GV70 is the second sports utility vehicle (SUV) released by the Genesis brand following the GV80. Alongside this, Genesis plans to release a facelifted version of its sports sedan, the G70.
Hyundai Motor Company is set to launch 'The New Santa Fe' this month. The Santa Fe is a popular model that became the first SUV to join the '100,000 units per year club' in 2018. The upgraded product features and safety enhancements are expected to attract significant attention from the industry. However, the hybrid model will not be released within this year.
Additionally, Hyundai is preparing to launch the 'Tucson' and 'Kona.' The Tucson, a compact SUV, will be a completely redesigned fourth-generation model, while the Kona will receive a facelift. The Avante hybrid and high-performance N Line versions are also in preparation, and the Sonata N Line is set for release as well.
Kia Motors is drawing the most attention with the 'Carnival.' The fourth-generation complete redesign model is expected to incorporate the latest technologies. Along with this, the fifth-generation complete redesign of the Sportage, as well as facelifted models of the Stonic and Stinger, are awaiting release.
At Renault Samsung Motors, the third-generation electric vehicle 'ZOE' and year-updated models of the SM6 and QM6 are pending release. Renault Samsung Motors gained popularity in the first half of this year with the XM3 and Captur, raising expectations for new models even higher.
