"Total 200 Million Support" City Announces JangAnPyeong Urban Regeneration Resident Idea Contest
[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] On the 12th, the Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that it will promote the '2020 Resident Public Contest Project' to increase residents' interest and participation in the urban regeneration project in the Janganpyeong area.
Since 2018, Seoul has been conducting resident public contest projects to revitalize urban regeneration in Janganpyeong. Last year, through two rounds of resident public contests, a total of 12 projects (10 planning contests, 2 facility contests) were selected, contributing to the regeneration and revitalization of the local industry in the Janganpyeong area.
Projects such as the 'Janghan Sports Day' to strengthen the cohesion of the local industrial council, the used car parts exhibition 'Upcycle Art,' and the car engine performance 'Engine Anatomy' were realized through the active participation of residents, the main agents promoting urban regeneration, from planning to execution.
Seoul stated, "This year as well, through the Janganpyeong resident public contest project, we will support the improvement of convenience for car-centered activities and environmental improvements, as well as the discovery and operation of industrial cultural content combined with local industries in urban regeneration activation areas such as Yongdap-dong, Dapsimni-dong, and Jangan-dong."
The city will conduct the contest divided into ▲Facility Contest (support for environment, safety, convenience improvement, and industrial revitalization) and ▲Planning Contest (support for local content development and automotive industry convergence cultural planning) to ensure smooth progress of the resident public contest project in the Janganpyeong area and to discover projects necessary for the local industry.
The Facility Contest supports projects aimed at improving convenience and environment in car-centered activity spaces, providing up to 30 million KRW per project (with 30% self-funding). The Planning Contest supports projects for discovering and operating industrial cultural content combined with local industries, providing up to 10 million KRW per project (with 10% self-funding). Among the Planning Contest projects, those that strengthen community cohesion and self-sustainability in the Janganpyeong area and community formation projects will receive up to 5 million KRW (with 10% self-funding).
Seoul plans to support residents (groups) participating in this contest by resolving practical difficulties such as accounting through the Janganpyeong Urban Regeneration Support Center. Pre-consultations will be conducted from the announcement date of the project plan until June 29, the proposal submission deadline, to assist participants (groups). Selected projects will also receive overall assistance in project execution and accounting. Any resident group or organization with three or more members interested in urban regeneration industries and the automotive industry in the Janganpyeong area can participate. However, projects that have already received support from administrative agencies for the same content or are unrelated to the Janganpyeong urban regeneration activation project or lack public interest will be restricted from applying.
Seoul will announce the overview and evaluation and selection methods of the '2020 Janganpyeong Area Resident Public Contest Project' on the city website and subsidy management system from today until the 29th. Applications can be submitted by mail, in person, or email to the Janganpyeong Urban Regeneration Support Center with the required documents such as the project application (proposal), group or meeting introduction, and project plan. After proposal submission, final support project funds and contents will be selected through document review, interviews, and the subsidy review committee.
