Apple to Introduce Own Processor Instead of Intel in Mac Computers... Expected to Unveil at This Month's WWDC
[Asia Economy Reporter Seulgina Jo] Apple is expected to unveil Mac computers equipped with its own ARM chips instead of Intel at the 2020 Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) held at the end of this month.
According to major foreign media including Bloomberg on the 9th (local time), Apple's WWDC 2020, which will be held online for a week starting from the 22nd, is expected to reveal iOS 14, macOS 10.16, watchOS 7, and more. At this event, by introducing Macs with self-designed ARM-based processors, it is anticipated that the long-expected split from Intel will be officially confirmed.
In this case, Apple's Macs will be able to differentiate themselves from competitors such as HP, Dell, and Samsung, which use Intel chips, CNBC reported. The outlet stated, "Apple's ARM-based processors have proven their powerful processing capabilities in mobile products like the iPhone and iPad," adding, "Battery life is also much longer."
Apple and Intel have not issued official statements regarding these reports.
