Sinan-gun has a relatively large elderly population, and safety accidents frequently occur when returning home after work at night or dawn.
In addition, there is a shortage of lighting facilities (tower poles) needed for fishery work at the tidal wharf and streetlights urgently needed for nighttime farming work.
Accordingly, a total of 1.07 billion KRW is being invested to newly install LED lighting facilities or replace old security lights, including 310 million KRW for 265 rural streetlights, 160 million KRW for 8 small-scale pier tower poles, and 600 million KRW for replacing 470 old streetlights and security lights.

Park Woo-ryang, Governor of Sinan-gun, said, “It is fortunate that our residents can now move safely at night and carry out fishery work conveniently at any time,” adding, “We will continue to steadily increase new lighting facilities and continuously replace old security lights to support all administrative efforts so that island residents can live without inconvenience just like in the city.”
