Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to Establish Private-Led Dedicated Team Supporting the Spread of Hallyu
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] The government will establish a 'Hallyu Support Cooperation Division' led by the private sector and a 'Policy Analysis Team' responsible for statistical analysis in related fields to support the continuous spread of Hallyu.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on the 8th that, after public consultation including legislative notice, it will promulgate and enforce the 'Ordinance on the Enforcement Rules of the Organization of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Its Affiliated Agencies' on the 9th, which includes the establishment of this new organization.
The Hallyu Support Cooperation Division, the first of its kind to be established in a central government ministry, will oversee the Hallyu promotion tasks that have been dispersed inside and outside the ministry so far, support private sector activities, and actively respond to various factors delaying the spread of Hallyu. It will carry out ▲ comprehensive planning for Hallyu support ▲ research and surveys on the Hallyu market ▲ support for development and export of Hallyu-related products ▲ Hallyu-based cultural exchange projects, and through these efforts, support the power of our content to contribute to the co-growth of related industries and the spread of our culture.
The Policy Analysis Team will unify the management of data in the fields of culture, arts, sports, and tourism, which have been managed individually so far, and establish a policy formulation, execution, and evaluation system based on statistics. It will perform tasks such as ▲ improvement and expansion of statistics by relevant fields ▲ preparation of timely indicators and indices using various data ▲ compilation of policy-linked statistics including calculation of economic effects, and support so that timely data can be integrated throughout the entire policy process.
