Six Local Beaches Open from July 1 to August 16
Yeongildae Beach Open Until 9 PM for Two Weeks During Peak Vacation Period
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Dong-wook] Pohang City, Gyeongsangbuk-do, announced on the 7th that it held a beach council meeting at the city hall's small conference room on the 5th and decided to open six designated beaches?Yeongildae, Guryongpo, Dogu, Chilpo, Wolpo, and Hwajin?for 47 days from July 1 to August 16.
This year, due to the expected record-breaking heatwave, Yeongildae Beach will be opened at night for the first time in Gyeongbuk. The night opening will be limited to 14 days from July 25 to August 7, the peak season for summer vacationers. Night opening hours will be extended by 2 hours, until 9 PM.
The city expects a significant increase in tourists visiting the beaches and the sea this year due to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), and plans to form and operate a joint COVID-19 response team for the beaches with related organizations. The response team will prepare detailed safety measures, including periodic disinfection and inspection of multi-use facilities such as shower rooms and designation of quarantine managers, to prepare for the opening.
