Prime Minister Jeong Orders "Ensuring Safety of Our Citizens" Amid Spread of US Protests
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwangho Lee] Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun spoke by phone with Ambassador Lee Soo-hyuk to the United States on the 4th regarding the protests over the deaths of Black individuals spreading in the U.S., urging the securing of safety for our citizens.
After receiving a report on the protest situation in the U.S. from Ambassador Lee that morning, Prime Minister Chung expressed regret over some of our citizens experiencing difficulties such as property damage.
He especially instructed to actively protect our citizens centered around the Consulates General in Philadelphia, New York, and Los Angeles.
He also ordered close cooperation with local authorities to prevent further damage.
