[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jinyoung] Kim Tae-nyeon, the floor leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, expressed his intention to push forward with the opening of the 21st National Assembly on the 5th, saying "The die has been cast."
At the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly on the morning of the same day, Floor Leader Kim said, "We will elect the Speaker of the National Assembly on the 5th and open the 21st National Assembly on the legally designated date."

View original imageHe emphasized, "If the doors of the National Assembly are wide open on the 5th, no matter how much parties that do not abide by the law make a fuss, the reform steps for a working National Assembly cannot stop even for a moment," adding, "The highest value the people have commanded for the 21st National Assembly is a working National Assembly."
He continued, "The people's command is to overcome the national crisis caused by the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and unite the National Assembly to work," and said, "The Democratic Party will faithfully follow the people's command. The 21st National Assembly must completely eliminate past wrong practices and become a historic turning point for political innovation."
He added, "We must not compromise with past practices that stop the National Assembly due to political strife and disregard the law. That is not cooperation," and said, "Once the Democratic Party's floor organization is completed, we will prioritize the passage of the third supplementary budget and promote the Korean New Deal to lead the transition to the post-COVID era."

Floor Leader Kim also said, "Furthermore, we will pass the Working National Assembly Act as the Democratic Party's first bill," and urged the United Future Party, "We repeatedly call on the United Future Party. Let us create a 'K-National Assembly' admired worldwide through competition in working, policy, and alternatives," appealing for the party's agreement.
