Mercedes-Benz Electric Vehicle EQC, 200 Units Released as Socar Shared Cars
[Asia Economy Reporter Suyeon Woo] Mercedes-Benz Korea's first pure electric vehicle EQC will be operated as a shared vehicle for the car-sharing service Socar.
Mercedes-Benz Korea announced on the 1st that it has signed a business agreement with the car-sharing service provider Socar to provide 200 units of the first pure electric vehicle of the Mercedes-Benz EQ brand, 'The New EQC,' as shared vehicles.
Through this agreement, Mercedes-Benz Korea and Socar will supply the largest scale of electric vehicles in the domestic car-sharing service industry and take the lead in expanding the base of eco-friendly vehicles. Mercedes-Benz Korea plans to sequentially supply a total of 200 EQCs, starting with the introduction of 80 units of The New EQC in the Seoul and Gyeonggi areas early this month, including the Jeju region by July.

View original imageThe New EQC is the first pure electric vehicle under Mercedes-Benz's electric vehicle technology brand EQ, launched domestically in October last year. The EQC is an eco-friendly vehicle that combines differentiated design and a new electric drive system to deliver both dynamic driving performance and efficiency. Two motors produce a maximum output of 408 horsepower and a maximum torque of 78.0 kg.m, allowing an explosive performance with a zero-to-100 km/h acceleration time of 5.1 seconds.
It can travel over 309 km on a single charge, and with fast charging, it can be charged up to 80% within about 40 minutes at a maximum output of 110 kW. Additionally, it is equipped with Mercedes-Benz's latest driving assistance system and the MBUX infotainment system specialized for electric vehicles, providing excellent safety and convenience.
At the signing ceremony, Lee Sang-guk, Vice President of Sales at Mercedes-Benz Korea, said, "We are pleased that more domestic customers will be able to experience The New EQC through the business agreement with Socar, the number one car-sharing service in the industry," and added, "Mercedes-Benz Korea will also make various efforts to expand the base of eco-friendly vehicles in Korea."
