Hong Jun-pyo: "If you disguise imitating the left-wing second squad as reform, it will only become a left-wing satellite party"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Former Liberty Korea Party leader Hong Joon-pyo said, "If imitating the left-wing's second squad is disguised as reform, it will only become a satellite party of the left-wing party." This appears to be aimed at Kim Jong-in, the emergency committee chairman of the United Future Party, who is pushing for reform regardless of conservative or progressive lines.
On the 29th, former leader Hong said on Facebook, "The true values of conservatives and the right lie in freedom, fairness, and the common people."
He added, "We must no longer be hostages to a mistaken history," and said, "We must neither repeat nor belittle the tragic history caused by the arrogance and oppression of conservatives and the right."
Former leader Hong emphasized, "We must acknowledge what should be acknowledged and remember that we have the historical responsibility to create a new world," and said, "Just as history is not about only exposing the faults of the conservative and right-wing camp during the period of rapid growth, the merits of conservatives and the right must also be properly evaluated for the current state of Korean society."
He stated, "The root cause of the assassination of former President Park Chung-hee started with the expulsion of Assemblyman Kim Young-sam from the National Assembly, and the cause of the Gwangju May 18 Democratic Uprising began with the illegal arrest and detention of Mr. Kim Dae-jung," adding, "However, as a result of the continuous struggle for democratization, the true Kim Young-sam civilian government was established in 1993, completing the era of industrialization and democratization."

This can be interpreted as meaning that reform should be centered on conservative values rather than a 'left click.' Former leader Hong said, "The reform of Korean conservatives and the right must start from this historical awareness, and if we disguise imitating the left-wing's second squad as reform, we will only become a satellite party of the left-wing party," adding, "I place my expectations on the newly starting Korean conservative and right-wing party."
