The PGA Tour office announced on the 29th (Korean time), "The John Deere Classic will not be held in early July," adding, "There were too many obstacles to holding the tournament due to COVID-19." It was scheduled to take place over four days starting July 9 at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois, USA. Last year, Dylan Frittelli (South Africa) earned his first victory on the U.S. stage. The PGA Tour was suspended after the first round of The Players Championship, known as the "fifth major," in March and will resume with the Charles Schwab Challenge starting June 11. The first four tournaments will be held without spectators. "We plan to host a new tournament during the John Deere Classic period," they said. Details about the new tournament's location will be announced later. U.S. ESPN reported that "TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, the venue of The Players Championship in March, is a strong candidate."
