The National Institute of Technology and Standards under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced on the 26th that it will hold the 'R&D-based Standard Promotion Strategy and Performance Report Meeting for Leading the 4th Industrial Revolution,' covering fields such as autonomous vehicles, smart cities, and smart manufacturing.
Earlier, on the 20th, the National Assembly plenary session passed the 'Act on Performance Evaluation and Management of National Research and Development Projects.'
This law was promoted as part of strengthening the linkage between standards and R&D projects, which was included in the 'International Standardization Preemption Strategy for the 4th Industrial Revolution Era' announced by the National Institute of Technology and Standards at the Government Policy Coordination Meeting on June 20 last year.
Since 2011, the National Institute of Technology and Standards has been promoting the 'National Standard Coordinator Project' to discover standardization cases at the national R&D stage.
This is to link R&D achievements with national and international standards and to extract R&D outcomes based on standards.
The performance report meeting will proceed in the order of special lectures, sharing of achievements by field, roadmap presentations, and panel discussions.
In the special lecture, market, technology, and standard trends in the fields of artificial intelligence (AI) and big data, as well as policies of various countries, will be introduced, focusing on future directions and key issues.
Following this, national standard coordinators and private experts will share achievements by field, create and present roadmaps, and conduct panel discussions among attendees.
As an R&D achievement in autonomous vehicles, four standard drafts, including the AI-based autonomous driving computing module standard draft, were developed.
The standard roadmap identifies and reflects 20 standardization target items such as vehicle sensor technology and high-precision map technology.
Smart city R&D produced achievements by developing 14 standard drafts, including the smart city energy platform construction technology standard draft.
The standard roadmap reflects 40 standardization target items, including the smart city integrated operation platform.
In smart manufacturing R&D, three standard drafts, including the manufacturing service convergence core industry technology standard draft, were developed.
The standard roadmap identifies and reflects 28 standardization target items required for implementing smart manufacturing.
