Gwangju City Maintains Gathering Restrictions on Entertainment Venues
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 25th that it will recommend refraining from business operations at entertainment facilities such as clubs, entertainment bars, emotional pubs, and colatecs within the jurisdiction until the 7th of next month, while continuously strengthening inspections on compliance with quarantine rules.
Although the administrative order banning gatherings at entertainment facilities, which was issued on the 12th, will end at 6 a.m. on the 26th, considering that infections related to Itaewon clubs are still occurring nationwide and that major infection sites are entertainment facilities, compliance with quarantine rules at the targeted facilities will be inspected until the 7th of next month.
The inspection will involve more than 80 personnel from 12 teams, including the city, autonomous districts, police, and consumer food hygiene inspectors, focusing on ▲measures taken for symptomatic workers ▲maintaining a minimum distance of 1 to 2 meters inside and outside the facility ▲checking symptomatic individuals at entrances and maintaining visitor logs ▲mask-wearing by all workers and users ▲availability of hand sanitizers within the business premises ▲disinfection and ventilation of the business premises ▲designation of a quarantine manager.
Violating businesses will be immediately ordered to cease gatherings, and if the gathering ban order is violated, both the business owners and users will be subject to prosecution.
Lee Pyeong-hyeong, Director of the Welfare and Health Bureau of the city, said, “Although the administrative order banning gatherings will end, infection cases related to the Itaewon club incident are still occurring continuously in the metropolitan area, so we recommend refraining from business operations at the targeted facilities as much as possible, and if business is unavoidable, we ask that quarantine rules be strictly followed.” He added, “While compliance with quarantine rules at the targeted facilities is important, we hope citizens actively participate in COVID-19 prevention by refraining from using high-risk facilities as much as possible, as the final quarantine managers.”
