Gwangju Seo-gu Scholarship Foundation Supports 'Special Scholarships' to Overcome COVID-19
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Janghak Foundation of Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Chairman Yoon Poongsik) has decided to provide a 'special scholarship' to overcome COVID-19.
According to Seo-gu on the 25th, this special scholarship was prepared to help local students facing difficulties in their livelihoods due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, and out-of-school youth will also be selected to ensure non-discriminatory support.
The support scale includes a total of 60 students, including high school students, out-of-school youth, and university students, with a total scholarship amount of 45 million won to be provided.
Eligibility for application includes residents who have had an address in Seo-gu for more than six months as of the announcement date and their children, students from self-employed or small business owner households experiencing economic difficulties, students from unpaid leave worker households, and out-of-school youth who took the 2020 qualification exam.
Applications for the scholarship can be submitted in person by the 8th of next month at the local community service center or the Education Support Division on the 4th floor of Seo-gu Office. Out-of-school youth can apply with a recommendation from the head of a local out-of-school youth support facility.

Meanwhile, the Seo-gu Janghak Foundation Board of Directors selected 333 scholarship students from 2016 to 2019 and provided a total of 336,772,000 won in scholarships. On the 21st, they revised the articles of association enforcement rules to allow out-of-school youth to receive scholarship benefits without discrimination.
