[Asia Economy, Kang Juhee, Intern Reporter] Women's national soccer team player Ji Soyeon served as a one-day coach and led Eojjeoda FC to a come-from-behind victory.
On the afternoon of the 24th, in the JTBC entertainment program 'Must Join to Kick,' Ji Soyeon, also known as 'Ji Messi,' who played for Chelsea Women in the English Premier League, appeared as both a one-day coach and a guest player.
Coach Ahn Junghwan introduced Ji Soyeon by saying, "She joined the senior national team at the age of 15. She made her A-match debut as the youngest player ever. Her technical skills are also outstanding."
Ji Soyeon is currently tied for the most goals scored in A-matches in the history of Korean women's soccer, with 58 goals. In addition, she recorded a hat-trick in her first match at the 2010 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup. Ji Soyeon commented, "That was the first time I ever scored a hat-trick at a World Cup."
As a one-day coach, Ji Soyeon taught the Eojjeoda FC members everything from warm-ups to one-on-one defense and free kicks. In particular, she demonstrated her impressive free kick skills. Despite all 12 members defending, she executed a flawless free kick.
Kim Sungjoo remarked, "There's even a 'Ji Soyeon zone.' In that zone, there's no chance for anyone else." He then added, "The Eojjeoda FC members haven't been able to make the most of their free kick chances. It would be great if you could teach them about free kicks."
Afterwards, Ji Soyeon entered the match as a guest player. As a result, Eojjeoda FC had to play with a penalty, facing the opposing team with an 8-to-9 player disadvantage.
When Ji Soyeon said, "I'll do my best to help you score as many goals as possible," the Eojjeoda FC members joked, "You can just take care of it yourself," eliciting laughter. Ji Soyeon replied, "You have to help me. After all, the other team has one more player."
Once the match began, Eojjeoda FC conceded the first goal in the first half. Later, Ji Soyeon created a corner kick opportunity, but it did not result in a goal. The first half ended with a score of 1-0.
As the second half began, Ji Soyeon launched another attack. Mo Taebeom, receiving a pass from Ji Soyeon, scored the equalizing goal.
With just one minute left in the match, Ji Soyeon started an attack from the halfway line, passed to Park Taehwan, received the ball back, and then passed to Kim Yohan, who scored the winning goal, securing a 2-1 victory.
