Daegu City Resumes Performances with Opera Plaza Concert... Invites Medical Staff and Citizens
On the 16th at Daegu Opera House Outdoor Plaza... Prepared with a Donation from a Philanthropist
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] After three months since the implementation of ‘social distancing’ to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), the first performance with an audience in the Daegu area was held on the 16th at the outdoor plaza of Daegu Opera House.
The ‘Let’s Be Together, Daegu! Opera Plaza Concert,’ planned by the Daegu Opera House Foundation, was made possible by a donation from a philanthropist who requested the funds be used for cultural projects for Daegu citizens.
About 100 people, including medical staff and firefighters dedicated to overcoming COVID-19 and citizens who were thirsty for cultural consumption due to social distancing, were invited to the venue. The event organizers made every effort to strictly follow performance sector guidelines by maintaining maximum distance between the stage, audience, and seats, deploying 42 quarantine management personnel to conduct temperature checks on attendees, and more.
Daegu City has been gradually and selectively reopening public cultural and sports facilities, which had been closed for over two months, starting from the 13th of this month, as it transitions from ‘social distancing’ to ‘everyday distancing.’
Starting with this Opera Plaza Concert, Daegu City is preparing various outdoor performances such as another Opera Plaza Concert, the Daegu Wind Orchestra Festival, and a Folk Festival from June to August.
