According to Daegu City on the 16th, the new confirmed case is the husband of a woman (working at a medical institution) who was diagnosed asymptomatically on March 7 and was receiving treatment while preparing to return to daily life.
The health authorities conducted tests on family members and contacts after the woman tested positive again in a test conducted before returning to work following a full recovery. Daegu City explained that they are investigating with the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency whether the infection was transmitted from the spouse who had been declared fully recovered.
Accordingly, as of midnight on this day, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Daegu increased to 6,869. The number of recovered patients was counted as 6,460 (3,421 in hospitals, 2,844 in residential treatment centers, and 195 at home) as three patients were discharged the previous day. The recovery rate is 94.0% (nationally 89.3%).
The number of COVID-19 deaths in Daegu increased by two, bringing the total to 177. The 176th death was an 82-year-old man who had underlying conditions such as dementia and lung cancer. The 177th death was an 80-year-old woman with underlying conditions including hypertension, diabetes, and lung cancer.

Meanwhile, 333 residents of Daegu who were tested after visiting places such as the Itaewon clubs in Seoul, where cluster infections occurred, were tested; 328 were negative, and the remaining five are awaiting test results. Among those tested, 199 were tested due to visits to entertainment facilities (clubs, pubs, etc.), and 134 were tested due to simple visits to Itaewon.
