[Golf Topic] LPGA Tour 'DGLBI Cancellation'... Resumption Delayed to Late July
[Asia Economy Reporter No Woo-rae] ○…The U.S. Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Tour has canceled the Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational (DGLBI).
On the night of the 15th (Korean time), it was announced, "We have decided not to hold the DGLBI, which was scheduled to take place from July 15 at the Midland Golf Course in Michigan, USA," citing "the COVID-19 pandemic." The tournament will return to next year's tour schedule, held at the same location. Mike Whan, LPGA Commissioner, said, "Although it is unfortunate that the DGLBI cannot be held this year, we are pleased to have signed a multi-year agreement."

With the cancellation of the DGLBI, the tour's resumption schedule has also been postponed to the end of July. The LPGA Tour has not been able to complete the 2020 season due to COVID-19 since the ISPS Handa Australian Women's Open in February. Originally, the plan was to restart with the DGLBI, but the season will continue with the Marathon Classic, which begins on July 23. Commissioner Whan stated, "We will do our best to conduct the 2020 season safely," adding, "The most important thing is to ensure the long-term safety of the tour."
