SMAC Wins KEPCO Digital TRS Infrastructure Project for Distribution Automation System
[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] Smac announced on the 14th that it has been selected as the main contractor for the infrastructure improvement project of the digital wireless trunked radio system (TRS) for Korea Electric Power Corporation's intelligent distribution automation system. The contract amount is approximately 2.5 billion KRW, and there are plans to further expand related projects in the future.
This project was carried out as part of strengthening KEPCO's infrastructure monitoring system. It will enhance remote monitoring, management, and control of relay base stations in the wireless-based intelligent distribution automation network based on digital TRS. Through this project, Smac will carry out infrastructure improvement work for digital TRS wireless relay base stations covering about 40% of the country.

A Smac official stated, "The main goal is to establish a sensor environment to monitor various equipment within wireless base stations and to build an intelligent video monitoring and predictive maintenance monitoring infrastructure utilizing the artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure owned by KEPCO." He added, "Smac plans to leverage its experience and know-how gained from designing, supplying, and maintaining KEPCO's intelligent distribution automation network wireless infrastructure to secure additional expansion projects."
