Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism Provides Consulting for New Construction and Remodeling of 65 Public Libraries
On the 13th, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced that it will visit sixty-five public libraries by October to provide consultations on new construction and remodeling projects. The target libraries were selected based on evaluations of suitability, effectiveness, and the willingness of local governments to improve. In collaboration with experts in architecture, design, and library science from Hoseo University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation, they plan to assess library construction and operation plans. Additionally, through training sessions for practitioners (from July to September), they will share consultation cases on public library construction and operation, and conduct ongoing online and offline consultations to promptly address local governments' difficulties.An official stated, “Consultations will focus on services and operation programs tailored to the characteristics of the library and the region.” They added, “This year, we will support local governments with 190 projects and approximately 200 billion KRW in funding for public library construction,” and expressed hope that “through these consultations, public libraries that are suitable for regional characteristics and efficient can be built, opened, and operated with substance.”
