Gyeongnam Geochang-gun Strengthens Quarantine Activities with 370 Million Won 'COVID-19 Special Fund'
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kang Sharon] Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam announced on the 12th that through a special fundraising campaign conducted until the 8th targeting residents and hometown supporters to overcome the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), approximately 370 million KRW was collected.
With the funds, the county purchased antimicrobial copper films containing copper (Cu+), a metal that makes it difficult for viruses and bacteria to inhabit, and distributed them to a total of 816 locations, including 97 apartment complexes with elevators, 40 educational institutions, and 8 multi-use facilities.
Additionally, they installed human sterilizers (aseptic disinfection rooms) at 19 welfare facilities and multi-use facilities vulnerable to group infections.
Furthermore, they purchased 22,200 portable disinfectants and provided them to about 4,800 basic livelihood security recipients and lower-income groups, 40 educational institutions such as kindergartens and schools preparing to reopen, and 85 welfare facilities including daycare centers, elderly, and disabled facilities, making efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19 infection.

Gu In-mo, the mayor of Geochang-gun, said, "I am confident that the antimicrobial copper films and other items supported by the COVID-19 special fund will help prevent infectious diseases and alleviate residents' anxiety," adding, "We will devote all our efforts to quarantine activities until COVID-19 is eradicated."
