According to Yeosu City on the 11th, the Yeosu tourism promotion web drama "Dongbaek" has been airing since the 1st on the overseas cable TV channel "Multicultural Shaw." It is broadcast across western Canada regions such as Vancouver and Calgary and is scheduled to air until the end of next month.
Based on the Yeosu-Sun Incident, the web drama "Dongbaek" is the fourth work in the Yeosu tourism promotion web drama series and recorded about 500,000 views on YouTube in 2019.
In particular, it won awards at domestic and international web film festivals such as the "2019 Seoul Web Fest Special Award" and the "2019 Spain Bilbao Web Fest Golden Wolf Award," widely promoting the excellence of Yeosu tourism and garnering empathy and support from overseas web filmmakers for the enactment of the Yeosu-Sun Incident Special Act.
The Canadian multicultural broadcaster plans to air all Yeosu tourism promotion web dramas, including "Dongbaek," "Shinjikki's Love Story," "Yeomyeong," and "Manyomok."
A city official said, "The broadcast of the web drama 'Dongbaek' on Canadian TV is meaningful in that it directly introduces Yeosu to households worldwide through television, going beyond the scope of new media content such as YouTube and web film festivals."
