Lee Jae-myung: "Two-thirds of Itaewon club visitors used fake names and bogus addresses"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Lee Jae-myung, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, pointed out that the infectious disease prevention rules were not properly followed in the recent COVID-19 cluster infection at Itaewon clubs in Yongsan-gu, Seoul.
At an emergency online press conference held at the Gyeonggi Provincial Government on the 10th regarding the Itaewon club COVID-19 cluster infection, Governor Lee stated, "Two-thirds of the visitors to the six clubs in Itaewon involved in this incident used fake names and incorrect addresses, making verification difficult," adding, "This is a violation of infectious disease prevention rules."

He also expressed regret over the issuance of gathering ban orders to businesses and users who had been properly following the rules, saying, "If the policies are relaxed in the future, we will strengthen guidance and inspections to ensure that these establishments require visitors to provide their real names and contact information."
