President Moon Jae-in Explains Digital Jobs as a 'Post-Corona' Solution... "Ensuring Livelihoods Amid Disappearing Jobs Is a Challenge"
[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Jeong-min] President Moon Jae-in stated on the 10th during the Q&A session of the 'Special Speech on the 3rd Anniversary of the Presidential Inauguration' held on the 2nd floor of the Blue House Chunghwagwan that "the digital economy is an inevitable trend."
President Moon made this remark while revealing his vision for the 'post-COVID-19' era following the outbreak of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19). He explained in response to concerns that, although the digital economy has advantages, it also has the downside of reducing existing jobs.
President Moon said, "Even if the COVID-19 crisis had not occurred, (the digital economy) is our future," adding, "As the COVID-19 crisis led to the activation of remote work, the digital economy has accelerated even more."

View original imagePresident Moon diagnosed, "The digital economy will, on one hand, create many new jobs, but on the other hand, it will eliminate many existing jobs," and added, "A major future challenge will be how to guarantee livelihoods until these people can transition to newly created jobs."
President Moon explained, "The Digital New Deal is somewhat different. To lead the digital era, we must build digital infrastructure. Among various infrastructures, the most representative is building data infrastructure," and continued, "There will be many manual labor jobs and occupations that must be directly performed in the tasks of collecting, inputting, organizing, accumulating, and utilizing data, as well as establishing measures to prevent personal information infringement within that process."

President Moon said, "By significantly creating those jobs, we can respond to the current employment crisis and make South Korea a leading country in the digital economy. This is what we call the job New Deal, the Digital New Deal as part of the Korean New Deal."
