Citizen Group Files Compensation Lawsuit Against Wuhan City, China "Losses Due to Inappropriate Response"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyung-min] The civic group Committee for the Protection of the Common People’s Livelihood announced on the 30th that it has filed a lawsuit at the Seoul Central District Court against Wuhan City, China (represented by the Chinese Embassy in Korea), which has been identified as the epicenter of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), seeking 5 million won in damages.
In the complaint, the group stated, "Due to COVID-19, people are experiencing inconvenience from wearing masks, work processes are restricted due to 'social distancing,' and regulations are being applied in the fields of culture, sports, and tourism," adding, "The defendant (Wuhan City) has caused damage to our country's (Daegu and Gyeongbuk) reputation by inappropriate handling, leading to misunderstandings that these areas are sources of COVID-19 spread."

They further stated, "Since all citizens have suffered material and psychological distress as well as critical health losses due to restrictions on economic activities, we are claiming damages."
