Suncheon City Promotes 'Buy Spring Flowers Citizen Campaign' to Support Floriculture Farmers
Let's Revive the Local Economy Struggling Due to COVID-19 with Bright Spring Flowers as Gifts
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Suncheon City, Jeollanam-do announced on the 27th that it will promote the ‘Buy Spring Flowers Citizen Movement’ until May to support flower farmers and florists who are facing difficulties due to missing the peak graduation and admission seasons from February to March because of COVID-19.
The ‘Spring Flower Gift Citizen Movement’ is an initiative to stimulate flower consumption, which has been depressed due to COVID-19, and to gift bright spring flowers to citizens who find it difficult to go on spring outings due to social distancing measures.
The city, in cooperation with flower-related organizations, plans to place flowers (potted plants) in public institution workspaces and promote gifting spring flowers for various anniversaries and birthday celebrations.
Additionally, in collaboration with eup, myeon, and dong offices, the city will promote activities such as gardening around living areas like apartments and multi-family houses, and placing flower vases on tables at commercial establishments (cafes and restaurants) to naturally foster Suncheon’s garden culture.
The city will encourage flower consumption by having city hall officials participate in the ‘1 table 1 flower movement’ and posting on social media.
