Poetry Recital with Music 'Aunaeui Sae' Live on YouTube from 3 PM
Sejong Center for the Performing Arts and National Museum of Korean Contemporary History Co-Host... Poet Moon Jeonghee's Poetry Recital
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Byung-hee] The poetry recital event "Aunae-ui Sae," accompanied by music, will be broadcast online from 3 p.m. on the 26th through the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts and the Seoul City YouTube channel.
"Aunae-ui Sae" is an event jointly organized by the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts and the National Museum of Korean Contemporary History to offer comfort to citizens weary from the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and to support citizens participating in the social distancing "Pause for a Moment" campaign.
This performance stages the eponymous long poetry collection by poet Moon Jeong-hee, which deals with Yu Gwan-sun's Aunae Manse Movement. It expresses the indomitable and noble hope of Yu Gwan-sun, who was at the center of the March 1st Independence Movement, through moving poems and beautiful music that embody life and death.
Along with 45 long poems, the performance will convey the emotions Yu Gwan-sun felt at the time through music representing her feelings, including "Barefoot Girl," "Arariyo," "I Will Live in the Green Mountains," "Amazing Grace," and the Patriotic Song of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea in Shanghai.
Poet Moon Jeong-hee and Ju Jin-oh, director of the National Museum of Korean Contemporary History and a historian of modern Korean history, will recite the poems. The performance can be enjoyed with the voices of soprano Kang Hye-jung, Korea’s most beloved opera singer, and baritone Lee Eung-kwang, who is actively performing mainly in Switzerland and praised by European media. The ensemble will be performed by the National Museum of Korean Contemporary History’s classical performance group, the first to be formed among national museums, which reinterprets the spirit of modern and contemporary Korean history through classical works of historical significance and songs imbued with the national spirit, delivering the era’s spirit with the deep and rich resonance of chamber music.
