Seodaemun-gu 'Ansan (鞍山) Jarakgil Cherry Blossom Concert' Canceled
Moon Seok-jin, Seodaemun-gu Mayor, Orders Thorough Quarantine Measures for Spring Visitors' Safety Despite Challenges
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Seodaemun-gu (Mayor Moon Seok-jin) has decided not to hold the ‘Ansan (鞍山) Jarak-gil Cherry Blossom Concert,’ which has been held for three days every early April to coincide with the cherry blossom blooming season, due to the impact of COVID-19.
This decision aims to prevent crowds of visitors from gathering at Ansan during the period of strict ‘social distancing’ measures.
However, even without the concert, some spring visitors are expected to visit Ansan when the full cherry blossom blooming season begins early next month.
In preparation, Mayor Moon Seok-jin chaired an emergency countermeasure meeting on the 23rd at the district office’s planning situation room, instructing, “Place hand sanitizers around the Ansan cherry blossom clusters and emphasize ‘wearing masks’ and ‘maintaining distance between people’ to ensure citizen safety.”
He also urged, “During the peak cherry blossom period, conduct frequent disinfection of cafes, benches, stairs, and structures within reach, and thoroughly manage cleaning, maintenance of convenience facilities, and crack down on illegally parked vehicles.”
