Boeing Faces Consecutive Setbacks... First COVID-19 Death Among Workers Reported
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Jae-hee] Boeing has reported its first death due to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
On the 22nd (local time), according to local media such as The Seattle Times, a worker at Boeing's Everett plant died from COVID-19. The deceased worker was responsible for overseeing the 737 Dreamliner model at the Everett plant.
Boeing stated in a press release, "We are doing our best to take appropriate measures while respecting the privacy of the deceased employee and their family."
The deceased worker's brother posted on the social networking service (SNS) Facebook, saying, "The Boeing Everett plant must be shut down." He added that his brother, the deceased employee, had worked at Boeing for 27 years.
Until now, workers at the Everett plant have expressed dissatisfaction to management about continuing to operate the plant despite the spread of COVID-19.

Meanwhile, a total of 29 confirmed COVID-19 cases have been reported among Boeing employees. Of these, 24 cases were confirmed within Washington state, where Boeing's headquarters is located, and 5 cases were confirmed outside the state.
