Daegu National Water Industry Cluster Joins 'Good Landlord Movement'... 40 Million Won Rent Reduction
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bo-kyung] The Ministry of Environment and the Korea Environment Corporation announced on the 22nd that they will carry out the 'Good Landlord Movement' targeting resident companies of the National Water Industry Cluster located in the Daegu National Industrial Complex to overcome the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) crisis.
The National Water Industry Cluster Project Group will waive the full amount of rent, facility usage fees, electricity charges, and water and sewage fees for 38 resident companies for three months from February to April, a period during which difficulties began due to COVID-19.
The waived amount totals approximately 40 million KRW, including 35.32 million KRW in rent, providing each resident company with benefits of about 365,000 KRW per month. The project group is also considering extending the exemption period depending on the progression of the COVID-19 outbreak.
Additionally, the project group and employees of resident companies voluntarily collected 9 million KRW in donations and 200 eco-friendly shopping bags (eco-bags), which were delivered to Keimyung University Dongsan Hospital, a COVID-19 regional base hospital in Daegu, on the 13th.
The project group formed a 'COVID-19 Dedicated Disinfection Team' to provide a weekly 'visiting disinfection service' to 38 resident companies and 8 companies located in the nearby water industry complex.
They distributed 150 masks and 150 hand sanitizers to resident companies and are actively responding to prevent the spread of COVID-19 by installing thermal cameras and encouraging mask-wearing.
Kim Dong-jin, Director of the Water Resources Policy Bureau at the Ministry of Environment, stated, "Despite the difficult situation due to COVID-19, we have joined the Good Landlord Movement to support water companies striving for the development of Korea's water industry. We will continue to do our best to overcome COVID-19 in cooperation with water companies."
