Korean-American Arrested for Attacking Incheon Airport Duty-Free Shop Employee with a Weapon
[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Seul-gi] A Korean-American in his 30s was arrested by the police for stabbing duty-free shop employees with a weapon at Incheon International Airport.
The Incheon Airport Police Unit announced on the 18th that they had arrested and were investigating Ms. A (35, female) on charges of special assault.
According to the police unit, Ms. A is accused of stabbing two duty-free shop employees with a weapon in the duty-free zone of Terminal 2 at Incheon International Airport, Jung-gu, Incheon, at around 5:51 p.m. that day.
Ms. A was caught by another employee who witnessed the incident, and a police officer belonging to the airport police unit nearby arrested her on the spot.
The injured employees were confirmed to have not been seriously hurt. The weapon Ms. A was carrying at the time was reportedly a small item that is allowed on board an airplane.
Ms. A, who arrived from the United States that day, committed the crime after getting lost while trying to find the arrival hall and being stopped by duty-free shop employees.

A police official stated, "When the employees told her she had taken the wrong path and needed to go up to the arrival hall, Ms. A swung the weapon," adding, "It has been confirmed that she does not show any suspected symptoms of COVID-19."
