4 More Deaths Reported in Daegu... COVID-19 Death Toll Reaches 90 (Update)

[Asia Economy Reporter Donghoon Jeong] In Daegu, four additional deaths from the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) were reported on the morning of the 18th, raising the total number of COVID-19 deaths in South Korea to 90.
According to Daegu City, around 1 a.m. that day, a 75-year-old woman passed away at Daegu Catholic Hospital, followed by the deaths of a 76-year-old woman, a 64-year-old man, and a 78-year-old man in succession.
The 75-year-old woman, the 87th fatality, was admitted to Daegu Catholic Hospital on January 8 with pneumonia symptoms. After treatment, she was transferred to Jungang Nursing Hospital on the 11th. On the 16th, due to low blood pressure and difficulty breathing, she was moved back to Catholic Hospital and tested positive for COVID-19. She died during inpatient treatment at 1 a.m. that day. It is known that she had underlying conditions including dementia and lung abscess.
The 88th fatality, a 76-year-old woman, was tested for COVID-19 at the Catholic Hospital screening clinic on the 9th and confirmed positive on the 10th. She was admitted to the intensive care unit at Chilgok Kyungpook National University Hospital due to breathing difficulties. She died around 4 a.m. in the negative pressure ward during inpatient treatment. She had hypertension, dementia, and stroke.
Around the same time, the 64-year-old man (the 89th fatality) was tested and confirmed positive for COVID-19 at Daegu Kyungpook National University Hospital on the 21st of last month. On the 24th, he was moved to the intensive care unit due to breathing difficulties. He died during inpatient treatment at 4:12 a.m. that day and had hypertension and diabetes.
