Dobong-gu has launched a "Local Commercial District Revitalization Campaign," where all employees use alley restaurants to revitalize the depressed local commercial district.
From March 2nd for a month, the mayor visited small local restaurants with employees from 14 community service centers to help self-employed business owners suffering from the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19). The purpose is to share the pain during difficult times and overcome the COVID-19 crisis together.
He also delivered masks and hand sanitizers to the visited restaurants to prevent COVID-19 infection.
During lunch hours, the mayor visits community service centers to check the status of COVID-19 quarantine implementation and the rental status of disinfection equipment, and visits restaurants whose sales have sharply declined due to the impact of COVID-19 with the employees.
The owner of a restaurant located in Ssangmun-dong said, "Since the COVID-19 outbreak, customers have decreased, making it difficult to pay rent, so I am really grateful that the employees came to visit," holding the mayor's hand.
After the meal, the mayor visited another small local cafe to listen to the voices of self-employed business owners, offered words of comfort to merchants, and actively encouraged general residents who greeted him to use nearby stores.
Along with this, Dobong-gu office employees are also visiting restaurants in the Ssangmun-dong, Banghak-dong, Chang-dong, and Dobong-dong areas by department, helping to overcome the COVID-19 economic downturn in the local commercial district.
The district is providing ongoing support by lending up to 200 million KRW per company at an annual interest rate of 1.8% from a 2.8 billion KRW Small and Medium Enterprise Development Fund to small and medium-sized enterprises and small business owners located in Dobong-gu to minimize damage caused by the spread of COVID-19.
