Australian Prime Minister: "COVID-19 Emergency, G20 Must Hold Urgent Finance Ministers Meeting"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison on the 15th (local time) called for an emergency meeting of finance ministers and central bank governors of the Group of Twenty (G20) amid the adverse effects of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on the global economy.
According to foreign media, Prime Minister Morrison, speaking to reporters in Sydney, introduced his conversations with world leaders and expressed support for Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's proposal for cooperation among G20 leaders.
He added that British Prime Minister Boris Johnson also agreed on the necessity for G20 finance ministers and others to meet.

Meanwhile, leaders of the Group of Seven (G7) major countries including the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Canada, and Japan are scheduled to hold a remote video conference on the 16th of this month to devise measures to respond to the globally spreading COVID-19.
