[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] The International Rowing Federation announced on the 15th (Korean time) that it has canceled the Asia-Oceania continental quota regatta, which was a qualifying event for the Tokyo Olympics rowing competition, due to the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), and will reconsider the Olympic qualification criteria.
Originally, the event was scheduled to be held in Chungju, Chungbuk from April 27 to 30, but due to the spread of COVID-19, the venue was moved to Lucerne, Switzerland, and the event was postponed once.
However, as COVID-19 spread widely in Europe as well, the federation announced the complete cancellation of the event.

The federation stated, "We will closely consult with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to establish new criteria for the allocation of Tokyo Olympic qualification spots and will announce the related details thereafter."
