Warm Support Continues for Chosun University Hospital Medical Staff Struggling Against COVID-19
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Warm support continues to flow for the medical staff at Chosun University Hospital, who are working hard to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the Gwangju area and to treat severe patients from Daegu and Gyeongbuk.
According to Chosun University Hospital on the 13th, following anonymous donations from Gwangju citizens, the Catholic Archdiocese of Gwangju, and Dr. Charles last week, this week seven organizations including Hakundong Catholic Church, the Sisters of Charity of Seton, Turbo's Coffee Playground, Cafe Star, Gwangju Federation of Economic Justice, Seoul Hospital Nurses Association, and Gwangju Metropolitan Nurses Association have extended their helping hands.
Hakundong Catholic Church and the Sisters of Charity of Seton gifted fruits, beverages, and bread to the faculty and staff working hard at the screening clinics and triage stations for the safety of Gwangju residents. Cafe Star (located in Baegundong) and Turbo's Coffee Playground (located in Dongmyeong-dong) delivered coffee to the medical staff who are dedicating themselves to treatment day and night.
In particular, Turbo's Coffee Playground added significance by pledging to donate 700 cups of coffee once a week.
Along with this, civic groups and nursing associations actively participated in the support campaign for Chosun University Hospital.
On the 12th, the Gwangju Federation of Economic Justice (Gwangju Economic Justice Practice Citizens' Coalition) delivered fruits, rice cakes, and beverages through Lim Taek, Mayor of Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, expressing gratitude to the medical staff at Chosun University Hospital who are risking infection and fighting on the front lines to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Subsequently, the Seoul Hospital Nurses Association and the Gwangju Metropolitan Nurses Association also supported fruits and food for the nurses at Chosun University Hospital who are dedicated to caring for COVID-19 confirmed patients, wishing for the health of the nurses in the respective departments and the speedy recovery of the confirmed patients.
No Kyung-young, General Affairs Manager of Chosun University Hospital, said, “The support from various organizations and citizens in the Gwangju area is helping us overcome the spread of COVID-19,” adding, “We will do our best every day to ensure the safety of visitors to the hospital.”
