City Library Provides E-book and Audiobook Services Year-Round
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Bucheon City in Gyeonggi Province is operating smart libraries normally and providing e-book and audiobook services at all times to minimize inconvenience caused by the temporary closure of libraries.
According to the city on the 12th, the smart libraries currently operated by Bucheon City Library are located at Songnae Station and Yeokgok Station, each equipped with about 650 books. Anyone with a Bucheon City Library membership card can use the smart libraries, and can borrow up to 3 books at a time for 14 days.
Bucheon City Library holds 21,068 e-books and 946 audiobooks. E-book services can be accessed through the Bucheon City Library website, Kyobo Library, and the Audien Sound smart app. E-books can be borrowed up to 5 per person for 14 days, and streaming audiobook services can be used without limit.
However, due to the current temporary closure of libraries, issuance of new membership cards has been suspended, so only existing members can use the services.

A Bucheon City official stated, "We plan to add about 240 new e-books within this month so that citizens can read books without inconvenience," and added, "We hope people actively use the smart libraries and e-book and audiobook services to continue their reading habits."
