Lee Hyori "Won't Collect Rent This Month"... Joins the 'Good Landlord Movement'
[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Yeon-ju] Singer Lee Hyori has decided not to charge one month's rent to tenants who are struggling due to the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
According to multiple media reports on the 11th, Lee Hyori recently decided not to collect rent for March from tenants of a building she owns in Hannam-dong, Seoul.
One tenant told the media in an interview, "Last month, I was informed by Lee Hyori that the rent for this month would not be charged."
He expressed his gratitude, saying, "These days, due to COVID-19, the economy is not doing well and it is a difficult time in many ways, so I am very thankful that Lee Hyori waived the entire rent for one month."
The so-called 'Good Landlord Movement,' which Lee Hyori has joined, is a campaign where landlords voluntarily reduce or waive rent for tenants who are facing economic difficulties due to the spread of COVID-19.
Previously, Seo Jang-hoon, Jun Ji-hyun, Park Eun-hye, Jun Ji-hyun, and Hong Seok-cheon had lowered the rent for buildings they own.
