View original imageHanssem, a comprehensive home interior specialist company, has strengthened its 'home care' services this year. This move aims to capture the increasing demand caused by spring yellow dust and fine dust. In particular, with the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), the number of customers seeking disinfection and sterilization for homes and businesses is expected to steadily increase, positioning this as a new source of revenue.
According to Hanssem on the 13th, the regular shareholders' meeting scheduled for the 20th of this month will add 'disinfection and sterilization business' to the company's articles of incorporation. This formalizes the home care business, which began in earnest at the end of last year. Hanssem's home care is a comprehensive service that manages the customer's entire living environment beyond simple product maintenance, including furniture, kitchens, bathrooms, and home appliances. The service, which was previously limited to mattresses, has been expanded to cover the entire home since the second half of last year. There is also a service that sterilizes spaces and drains to create a more pleasant environment.
Hanssem's home care service has shone in the recent situation of COVID-19 spread. A separate budget of 500 million KRW was urgently allocated to deploy home care personnel and technology for COVID-19 preventive disinfection work conducted at 12 large complex stores such as Hanssem Design Park nationwide and over 700 small and medium-sized dealerships. Hanssem carried out disinfection in the Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions up to once a day, and in other regions, disinfection activities were conducted once or twice a week. The disinfection was performed using a 'spray coating sterilization method' that sprays disinfectant in ultrafine particles, using a product recognized by the Ministry of Environment for sterilizing human coronavirus. Hanssem plans to expand disinfection activities further depending on the situation.

Industry insiders expect that Hanssem will be able to target the increasing demand for disinfection and sterilization following the COVID-19 crisis based on this foundation. If the home care business takes root, it could become a new growth engine for Hanssem. Since becoming the first furniture company to exceed 2 trillion KRW in sales in 2017, Hanssem's growth has slowed for two consecutive years. Last year's sales amounted to 1.7023 trillion KRW, a decrease of 11.7% compared to the previous year. Amid concerns that growth has reached its limit, it is said that new revenue sources can be discovered through home care services, and synergy with existing businesses can be pursued. Hanssem estimates the domestic home care market to be worth about 7 trillion KRW annually. A Hanssem representative said, "Hanssem's home care service embodies over 50 years of know-how regarding customers' living environments," adding, "We will propose a healthier and more comfortable living environment to customers beyond simply checking the functionality and hygiene status of individual products."
