[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) has been finally selected for the ‘Smart City Service Planning Consulting Project’ hosted by the Seoul Digital Foundation.
The ‘Smart City Service Planning Consulting Project’ is a program by the Seoul Digital Foundation that supports full-cycle consulting from discovering and selecting local issues, analyzing causes, to planning and executing services, aimed at strengthening the smart city service capabilities of Seoul’s autonomous districts.
Gwanak-gu submitted a consulting request proposal with the theme ‘Creating a Safe Smart City Gwanak’ to address violent and crimes against women, and was selected as the final target area at the end of February.
Going forward, until the end of 2020, the district will receive comprehensive consulting support from the Seoul Digital Foundation to enhance smart city service capabilities, including △analysis of local problem causes △operation of resident planning groups based on facilitation △smart city service planning and design.
In particular, reflecting the regional characteristics where many single-woman households reside and one-room and multi-family houses are densely populated, Gwanak-gu plans to prioritize the smart city creation project based on the safety of women and vulnerable groups by developing projects that use advanced information technology to prevent crimes against women and vulnerable groups and enable quick response and rescue in emergencies.
To accelerate the creation of ‘Smart City Gwanak,’ a pledge project of the 7th local government, Gwanak-gu established a dedicated department, the Smart Information Division, in January.
The district is actively discovering and promoting life-oriented projects that apply and solve various local issues using 4th industrial technologies such as Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Internet of Things (IoT), Big Data, and Artificial Intelligence (AI), contributing to improving residents’ quality of life.
