Seongnam-si Launches 'AI Care Call Counseling Service' for COVID Active Monitors
[Asia Economy (Seongnam) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province has started the 'AI (Artificial Intelligence) Care Call Consultation Service' for active COVID-19 surveillance subjects from the 9th.
Seongnam City previously signed an agreement with Naver and introduced the AI Care Call Consultation Service for the first time nationwide. This service is a system in which Naver's AI system, 'Clova,' automatically calls active surveillance subjects twice a day (9 a.m. and 3 p.m.) to check for fever, respiratory symptoms, and more.
The AI consultation results are sent via email to the public health center staff, who then take necessary actions.
If the active surveillance subject does not answer the call, the system makes two additional calls at 10-minute intervals, and if there is no response after three attempts, an email notification is sent to the public health center staff.
As a result of providing the AI Care Call service to five additional active surveillance subjects starting that day, four responded to the AI consultation, while one could not be reached and was referred to the public health center for confirmation.
A city official stated, "The Ministry of the Interior and Safety developed the 'Self-Quarantine Safety Protection App' for COVID-19 self-quarantined individuals and has been providing the service since the 7th, but active surveillance subjects are still receiving phone consultations from the public health center. We expect the AI Care Call service to improve the efficiency of the public health center's work and enable prompt action."

The Ministry of the Interior and Safety's Self-Quarantine Safety Protection App works by sending a push alarm to the smartphone once in the morning and once in the afternoon at designated times, prompting the self-quarantined individual to self-assess symptoms and check 'Yes' or 'No' for each item before submitting the response.
