Statement on the Delay of Primary Election Announcement
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Lee Hyung-seok, a preliminary candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea for the National Assembly election in Buk-gu (Eul), Gwangju Metropolitan City, expressed his position regarding the delay in the announcement of the primary election results.
On the 1st, Lee issued a press release stating, “I expect the Democratic Party of Korea central party to make a wise decision regarding the delay in the primary election.”
He continued, “This is clearly just a self-spreading tactic using the opponent candidate’s absence from the debate,” and added, “I believe that the slander within the party primary has crossed the line, and we will take strong legal action against the spread of false information and defamation in the future.”
He emphasized, “It was merely a simple business consultation with CMB, the debate organizer, and I never concluded that the opposing candidate visited Shincheonji.”
He also claimed, “I only requested fact-checking from one debate organizer based on a tip-off and did not spread or announce any suspicions,” and “Furthermore, the debate schedule was set to proceed normally.”
