Porsche Launches 8th Generation New 911 in Korea... 160.9 Million to 186.8 Million KRW
Carrera S and Carrera 4S Coupe and Cabriolet Models Released in Four Variants
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Ji-hee] Porsche Korea will launch the 8th generation new 911, the epitome of sports cars, on the 25th. The newly released 911 includes a total of four models: the Carrera S and Carrera 4S in both coupe and cabriolet versions.
The new 911 'Carrera S' and 'Carrera 4S', equipped with a 6-cylinder horizontally opposed turbocharged engine, deliver a powerful output of 450 horsepower. Improved fuel injection processes, turbocharger, and intercooler systems have enhanced driving efficiency, increasing output by 30 horsepower compared to the previous model.
Additionally, the new 911 is equipped with a newly developed 8-speed dual-clutch transmission (PDK), enabling both the 'Carrera S' and 'Carrera 4S' to accelerate from a standstill to 100 km/h in under 4 seconds. The rear-wheel-drive Carrera S coupe does it in 3.7 seconds, the cabriolet in 3.9 seconds, and the all-wheel-drive Carrera 4S coupe in 3.6 seconds. The top speed ranges from 304 to 308 km/h. Fuel efficiency is 8.2 km/l.
The new 911 further strengthens Porsche's design identity. In particular, the cabriolet maintains Porsche's distinctive cabriolet design while reflecting the modern lines of the coupe. The wheel arches have been widened with 20-inch front wheels and 21-inch rear wheels, and the rear end, which has the same width across all 911 models, features a design that highlights a slim central line. The hood between the new LED headlights is designed to evoke the original 911 generation.
Especially, the new 911 cabriolet features a new hydraulic system that speeds up roof operation. The fully automated soft top is integrated with the rear window in a unified glass form, including magnesium surface elements to prevent roof expansion at high speeds. It can be opened or closed at speeds up to 50 km/h, and the new hydraulic system reduces the opening time to 12 seconds.
The interior features a concave instrument cluster and a dashboard emphasizing straight lines. The dashboard fully covers the entire width between two wings. Two thin, frameless displays provide the driver with various information, and a 10.9-inch Porsche Communication Management (PCM) center screen is also applied.
The new 911 comes standard with the world's first developed Wet mode. Wet mode detects water on the road surface, pre-sets the control system, and warns the driver. The standard camera-based warning and brake assist system detects collision risks with vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists, and applies emergency braking if necessary.
Holger Geyermann, CEO of Porsche Korea, said, "The new 911 is a timeless sports car reborn as powerful, fast, and fully digitalized," adding, "Through the new 911, which combines powerful performance and everyday usability, we can deliver Porsche's values of tradition and innovation to domestic customers."
