Gyeongbuk Region Sees Sharp Increase in COVID-19 Cases, 26 Confirmed (Comprehensive)
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Ju Cheol-in] The number of COVID-19 patients in Gyeongbuk Province has increased to a total of 26.
According to Gyeongbuk Province on the 21st, as of 10 a.m., the current number of confirmed cases by region is 4 in Yeongcheon, 5 in Gyeongsan, 1 in Sangju, and 16 at Cheongdo Daenam Hospital, totaling 26.
In Gyeongsan alone, three new cases were added: patient 91 (46, female), patient 105 (56, female), and patient 106 (30, female), and three more cases, including patient 107 (67), were added in Cheongdo County.
Patients 91, 105, and 106 have been confirmed as members of Shincheonji Church.
Among the 26 patients in Gyeongbuk Province, 8 are currently identified as Shincheonji Church members.
They are scheduled to be transferred to Gimcheon Medical Center, and patient 107 is currently hospitalized in the negative pressure ward at Kyungpook National University Hospital.
The number of confirmed cases by region is 4 in Yeongcheon, 5 in Gyeongsan, 1 in Sangju, and 16 at Cheongdo Daenam Hospital.
Among the confirmed cases at Daenam Hospital, 5 are staff members rather than patients: 3 nurses, 1 caregiver, and 1 mental health specialist.
As of the 21st, Gyeongbuk Province has received 954 reports, with 666 testing negative and 288 still under examination. Additionally, 209 people are under quarantine.

A Gyeongbuk Province official stated, "Daenam Hospital is currently closed, and even those medical staff who tested negative are not self-isolating but are caring for patients together with the hospital's incident response headquarters."
