According to Gyeongbuk Province on the 17th, there are 2,087 Chinese international students at 24 universities in the province. Excluding 653 students already staying in Korea and 133 students who have not decided whether to enter the country due to leave of absence or withdrawal, 1,301 students are scheduled to enter.
Accordingly, Yeungnam University will accommodate all 421 Chinese international students on campus, including three Hyangto-gwan buildings, within this month. Daegu University will also have 97 Chinese international students stay for two weeks in the Biho dormitory.
In particular, Yeungnam University, Kyungil University, and Andong University plan to send Chinese international students directly to dormitories by chartered buses from the airport all at once.
Chinese international students living in dormitories with restricted external access for 14 days will have their meals provided with lunch boxes and will be monitored daily for health conditions such as fever checks.
The province supports each university with quarantine supplies such as masks, hand sanitizers, hand disinfectants, and thermal imaging cameras. Most of the additional costs used for separate management of Chinese international students, such as dormitory accommodation fees and bus rental fees, will also be borne by the province.
Even after the protection period ends, COVID-19 spread will be prevented through phased management, including monitoring of Chinese international students.
