KISA Selects 5 Additional Convergence Security Graduate Schools
University Party to Provide Up to 4 Billion KRW Support Over 6 Years
[Asia Economy Reporter Jin-gyu Lee] The Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) announced on the 14th that, as part of the Convergence Security Core Talent Development Project, it has selected five additional graduate schools specializing in convergence security and will support up to 4 billion KRW per university for a maximum of six years.
The convergence security graduate schools were newly established last year at three universities: Korea University (Smart Factory), Chonnam National University (Energy New Industry), and KAIST (Smart City). This year, five more universities have been selected, focusing on key 5G+ service areas such as autonomous vehicles and digital healthcare, expanding the total to eight universities.
The newly selected universities will form consortia with companies related to regional strategic industries in major information and communication technology (ICT) fields to open convergence security graduate schools. Through industry-academia cooperation, including specialized curricula tailored to each industry, they will cultivate core talents in convergence security.
Schools wishing to participate must submit a business plan covering education and research in specialized fields, industry-academia cooperation, and regional linkage strategies. A separate evaluation committee composed of external experts will review the business plans and conduct presentation evaluations to select the final five universities. The call for applications for the convergence security graduate schools will run until March 16, and detailed information can be found on the KISA website.
