Gwangju Dongbu Fire Station: "Replace Powder Fire Extinguishers Older Than 10 Years"
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Gwangju Dongbu Fire Station (Chief Yang Younggyu) has urged the replacement and disposal of aged powder fire extinguishers that have exceeded 10 years for safe use.
According to Dongbu Fire Station on the 12th, powder fire extinguishers must be replaced or disposed of for safety if 10 years have passed since the manufacturing date, according to the Fire Services Act.
If a performance confirmation inspection is conducted by the Korea Fire Industry Technology Institute, usage can be extended for 3 years only once.
Aged fire extinguishers can be disposed of by paying a fee of 3,000 KRW per extinguisher at the local administrative welfare center, receiving a disposal sticker, attaching it to the extinguisher, and placing it at the garbage collection site.
